COVID-19 Uudised
Olukorra tõsisuse tõttu oleme pidanud õigeks tühistada suvepäevad. Kahjuks meie iga aastane armastatud suve kokkutulek mere kaldal Liivi rannal jääb ära. Ka Baltic Film Festival on edasi lükatud ning loodetavasti toimub see 2021. aasta kevadel. Samuti on mitmeid Eesti laagrid USAs ja Kanadas tühistatud. Loe järgnevalt:
COVID-19 Updates & Cancellations
Due to the seriousness of the current situation we have made the decision to cancel the annual and popular BES summer days which were to be held in August. The Baltic movie festival has been postponed until further notice but hopefully it will be held in the upcoming spring. Meie metsakodu laieneb virtuaalselt!
Vastavalt NJ osariigi kuberneri määrusele ja meie liikmete tervishoiu huvidele, ei ole koroonaviiruse leviku tõttu lubatud sel suvel koguneda skaut- ja gaid/perena Järvemetsa mändide alla. Kuigi tunneme kindlasti puudust meie armsast metsakodust, näeme selles olukorras ka uut väljakutset; skaut/gaid on leidlik, rõõmus, kohusetruu ja naeratab raskustele! Ärge heitke meelt: Skaut ja gaid on leidlik, rõõmus ja naeratab raskustele!
Seega kavatseme laiendada oma laagriala virtuaalsesse maailma! Ees ootab meid põnev ja pretsedenditu võimalus luua toredaid, õpetlikke, traditsioonilisi ja tuleviku pilgulisi virtuaal tegevusi skautlike noortele ning kutsume skaute-gaide vanuses 6 – 18 ühinema põnevates ja meile pretsedenditu virtuaal laagri tegevustes 8 - 16 augustini.
Täname meie tegusaid laagrijuhte nskm Ivan Kavoleffi ja gj. Hailey Linaskit, kes on näidanud head juhtimist ja initsiatiivi tuua kokku meie noori keerulisel ajal.Info ELAGU! laagrist ilmub FBis, meie kodulehel www.jarvemetsa.org ja ka VES-s.Olgu te hoitud ja terved, ja aita ligimest. Järvemetsa scout and guide summer camp named “Elagu!” will be virtual this year! Based on the current New Jersey restrictions to cease all youth camp operations and projected extended health precautions, Eesti Skautide and Gaidide Malevad USA-s have decided to not have an in-person laager this year. Instead, ESM ja EGM USAs suvelaager 2020, named “Elagu!” laager, will come to you this year! While unprecedented in our 60+ years of suvelaagrid (summer camps), ESM and EGM are excited to offer engaging, iconic, and nostalgic laagri / scouting activities occurring virtually during the week of 8-16 August.
Järvemetsa is at the heart of our Eesti identity in the U.S. – our scouting spirit will not be defeated Skaut ja gaid on leidlik, rõõmus ja naeratab raskustele!
Many thanks to our camp leaders nskm Ivan Kavoleff and gj. Hailey Linask for showing that we are resilient and resourceful!This will make for a very memorable laager, indeed! Ontario provintsi 19. mai teatega kaasneb meiepoolne kurb uudis, et COVID-19 tõttu jääb 2020. a. Jõekääru lastelaager ära.
Suve, ilma Jõekääruta, on raske ette kujutada! Oleme pühendunud, et sel keerulisel ajal säiliks Jõekääru laagri olemasolu. Olukorra selginemisel loodame välja pakkuda tegevusi, kas virtuaalselt või distantsi hoidmisjuhendeid järgides. Seda kõike, et laager püsiks meie mõtteis ja eriolukorra möödumisel saame taaskord kokku tulla.
Registreerimise tasud tagastatakse.

The government of Ontario issued a statement on May 19th that overnight summer camps will be cancelled in Ontario in 2020. We are sad to announce the cancellation of and as such Jõekääru summer camps in 2020.
https://news.ontario.ca/opo/en/2020/05/government-supports-online-learning-during-covid-19-outbreak.html The thought of a summer without Jõekääru may be unimaginable but please know that we are dedicated to ensuring that laager will still exist in one form or another as we move forward through these trying times. As the situation evolves, we will try to formulate activities, whether they be virtual or using safe distancing protocols to ensure that laager stays in our minds until we can once again come together after this has all passed. Registration fees already submitted, will be refunded. Please stay tuned for news on future activities and updates. We will miss seeing you this summer and hope you keep safe and healthy and that we can look forward to the time that we can once again come together to enjoy our camp community. BES Aastakoosolek

BES annual meeting was held virtually on May 17th which worked out great. Everyone who took part in it had a chance to have a word. Together we agreed on the Board of Directors:

Uus kooliaasta pole enam mägede taga ja koolipäevad on nüüd kindlaks määratud. Nagu traditsiooniks saanud, kohtume kaks korda kuus pühapäeva pärastlõunal kell 14. Seoses COVID-19 pandeemiaga ei ole hetkel veel selge, kas alustame uut kooliaastat virtuaalselt või oma tavapärases asukohas:

Boston Estonian School 2020/2021
While we are enjoying the summer, it is time to think ahead and plan out the new school year for the Boston Estonian School. We will continue to get together twice a month on Sunday afternoons from 2 until 5. Whether we need to start our academic year virtually on Zoom or face-to-face is still unclear due to the current COVID-19 situation - we will follow the state’s laws and regulations for reopening. Our regular meeting venue:

Järelhüüe
Tiiu Booth (95) Newportist suri teisipäeval, 9. juunil 2020, oma kodus. Ta sündis Aleksander ja Maria Riisile 14. jaanuaril 1925 Pärnus. Tema õed-vennad Lydia ja Juri, kes mõlemad olid temast eelkäijad. Pärast keskkooli lõpetamist põgenes ta koos perega Saksamaale Nõukogude sissetungi ajal kodumaale. Ta emigreerus Ameerikasse kus ta oma elu välja elas. Kauaaegne Bostoni Eesti Seltsi liige, oli ta aastaid meie üritustest osavõtja ja selsti toetaja. BESi juhatus avaldab südamest kaastunnet perekonnale ja kõigile lähedastele suhetele. Tema järelehüüe on saadaval sellel veebisaidil.
Tiiu Booth, 95, of Newport passed away Tuesday June 9, 2020, at her home. She was born to Aleksander and Maria Riis on January 14, 1925 in Parnu, Estonia. Her siblings Lydia, and Yuri, both of whom predeceased her. After graduating high school, she fled with her family to Germany during the Soviet invasion of her homeland. She immigrated to the United States of America soon afterwards to make a new life of her choosing in a country that offered her the freedom to do so. A long time Boston Estonian Society member, she was a frequent participant in many of the society's annual events and a supporter of its mission. BES extends its heartfelt condolences to her immediate family and close relations. Her obituary is available on the below website.
