TAGASIVAADE PAARILE VIIMASELE
KUULE
Aeg on lennanud linnutiivul. Tundub,
nagu oleks see olnud alles eile, kui
me kõik Liivide kaunil koduõel
istusime, nautides meeldivat
seltskonda ning piduliste poolt
pakutud hõrgutavaid toite. Ja kes
saab unustada oktoobri-kuuses
lumesajus toimunud Mardiballi. Ei
oleks osanud arvata, et oktoobris
lund võib sadada. Meeldiv oli näha,
et lumi pidulisi eemale ei peletanud
ning need, kes ballil osalesid, said
naerda, tantsida ning maitsvaid roogi
maitsta. Ning lähipäevil on taas
saabumas meie Seltsi Jõulupidu.
Taaskord saab nautida head toitu
ning pühadehõngu.
Seltis üritused on nii edukad tänu
seltsiliste heale koostööle. Kuid nagu
alati, tuleb meil ka suured tänud
edastada järgmistele inimestele.
Suvepäevade aitähhi ütleme Tiina ja
Henn Liivile Rhode Island’i
idülliliseima koduõue pakkumise eest,
Madli Mangumile kogu ürituse
detailide organiseerimise eest, Jaak
Juhansoole väsimatu grillimise ning
meie kõhtude täitmise eest.
Mardiballi peakorraldamise aitähh
saab seekord öeldud Nele Kapsile
ning kõige eest, mis seotud toidu ja
dekoratsioonidega, lähevad suured
tänud teele Riiina Viisele. Pidu oli
fantastiline. Lisaks eelpoolmainitutele,
soovime tänu avaldada ka Madli
Magnumile, Hella Paabusele, Karina
Branzettile, Karin Varnikule, Kerly
Peedo Way’le ning kõigile neile, kes
alati nii peo eel kui ka peale pidu
aitavad korraldada ja koristada. Ilma
teieta ei oleks meie üritused nii
suurepärased.
LOOKING BACK ON THE PAST FEW
MONTHS
Oh how the time has flown! It seems
like only yesterday we were sitting in
the Liiv’s beautiful yard
laughing and talking as
we filled ourselves with all
gastronomical delights which
everyone had brought! And then
there was the Masquerade Party in
October when it snowed! Who’d have
thought it would snow in October?
But that didn’t seem to hamper the
spirits of those who attended who
laughed and danced and ate to their
hearts content! Wow! And now we
are coming to our annual Christmas
Festivities! More great times, with
more fabulous food right around the
corner! These events
are so successful because of
the combined efforts of the
entire community, but there are
some people who time and again go
beyond the call of duty who need to
be thanked. At the summer picnic we
especially thank Tiina and Henn Liiv
for graciously providing us the most
idealic setting in RI, Madli Mangum
for organizing the event and ensuring
every detail was covered, and Jaak
Juhansoo for grilling and grilling until
out stomachs were full!
The Masquerade Party would not
have been such a success without
the organization of Nele Kaps and
the exquisite menu and detailed
planning of Riina Viise. Thank you to
both of you for all the work entailed
in planning and executing a
remarkable event. Additionally Madli
Magnum, Hella Paabus, Karina
Branzetti, Karin Varnik, Kerly Peedo
Way are to be thanked for their
contributions before and after the
celebration. And to everyone else
who has cooked, cleaned, set up and
taken down - thank you for making
all our events so spectacular!

Aasta hakkab kiiresti lõpupoole
jõudma ning joped, kindad ja
mütsid on välja võetud pakase
peletamiseks. See kõik võib aga
tähendada vaid seda, et BES’i
Jõulupidu on saabumas.
Selleaastane Jõulupidu toimub
meile tuttavas Covenant
Congregational Church’is Walthamis
11. detsembril. Jõulu kirikuteenistus
algab kell 3 pealelõunal pastor
Uudo Tari juhtimisel. Epp Sonin
ning Paul Carlson on taaskord
lubanud oma muusikaga meid
rõõmustad ning meie kõigi
lauluhääli tuttavaid jõululaule
lauldes saata. Peale
kirikuteenistust, umbes kell 3
pealelõunal saab kiriku saalis
traditsioonilist jõulusööki: verivorsti
hapukapsaste ning kartulitega. Kõik
magustoidud laua rikastamiseks on
teretulnud ning palume $10.-
annetust kokkade suure töö ning
kulude katteks. Ka sel
aastal oleme palunud
Jõuluvanal meie peol osaleda.
Kahjuks saab ta meiega olla vaid
lühikest aega, kuid kuulsime, et ta
on juba hakanud kingikotti pakkima
ning ei jõua ära oodata, et saaks
meiega jõululaulude laulmisel
ühineda. Et Põhjanaba töökoormust
vähendada, palun helista Nele
Kapsile (508-981-2889) ja teata
lastest kes Jõulupeol meiega
ühinevad. Nagu juba eelnevatel
aastatel saab ka sel aastal kinke
Jõuluvana kotti lisada peo päeval,
kui otsid üles ühe Jõuluvana
abilistest – ära vaid unusta selgelt
kingile saaja nime märkimast.
CHRISTMAS
CELEBRATION
SUNDAY DECEMBER 11TH, 3PM.
COVENANT CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

Come one, come all to hear the
music, savor the aromas and enjoy
the company of the Estonian
Community. The Christmas Church
Service will begin at 3pm on Sunday
this year. The church will be filled
with the heartwarming voice of Epp
Sonin and the enlightened words of
Rev. Valdeko Kangro and the
peaceful calm of the hushed singing
of the familiar holiday hymns.
After the service everyone is
encouraged to join us for the
Christmas Feast in the adjacent hall.
As in the past years there will be our
own locally made blood sausages,
sauerkraut and potatoes for all.
Those who have been in the past
will tell you, it is a Christmas
Celebration like no other you’ll find
around Boston and if you miss out
you will have to wait until next year
to enjoy the flavor of Estonian Blood
Sausage!
Assuming no one gets on Santa’s
‘Naughty’ list before our event - we
have arranged to have Santa make
an appearance during our festivities.
To ease the workload of the North
Pole please contact Nele Kaps (508-
653-2005 or one80@comcast.net) if
you know of children who will be
joining us on the 11th. It is also
possible to add gifts to Santa’s bag
on the day of the party by seeking
out one of ‘Santa’s Helpers’ - just be
sure to clearly identify the recipient
on the package. |
