Kui eelmisel Mardiballil osalesid, siis kindlasti mäletad, et söögipoolist oli ühele korralikule eestlaste peole kohaselt piisavalt ning jalga sai keerutada varaste hommikutundideni. Nii ka sel aastal. Kuna seekordne pidu toimub jahiklubis, saab seekord siga vardasse aetud ning kohapeal kõigi piduliste rõõmuks professionaalse röstija valvsa järelvalve all valmis küpsetatud. Kõht ei tohiks küll kellelgi tühjaks jääda. Nii karastus kui alkohoolsed joogid on saadaval klubi baarist sularaha eest, soodsalt. Tantsmuusikat pakub ka sel aastal ansambel Mike Peipman’i eestvedamisel.

Et pidu aegsasti pihta hakkaks, on kogunemise ajaks määratud 6:30. Tseremooniline lahtilõikamine toimub kell 7:30 ning tantsupõrand kuulutatakse avatuks kell 9. Ka sel aastal antakse auhindu parimate kostüümide eest, kuid kõik on teretulnud – iseenda või kellegi teisena. Ja taaskord on plaanis ka Mardiloterii, nii et ära unusta ka veidi sularaha kaasa võtta. 

Peol osalemiseks ning Seltsi kulude katteks on tarvis ballipiletit. Piletihinnaks on $25 täiskasvanud liikmetele, $30 mitteliikmetele, 11-16-aastastele lastele on piletihinnaks $10, alla 10-aasta vanused lapsed saavad peol osaleda tasuta. Liikmeteks loetakse neid, kellel 2003. a. liikmemaks tasutud; liikmemaksu saab tasuda ka uksel. Et Selts saaks peo kõigile pidulistele meeldivaks ürituseks muuta, anna oma osalemissoovist Seltsile eelnevalt teada ning osta pilet eelmüügist. Täida kupong ringkirja lõpus ning saada koos tsekiga “The Boston Estonian Society” nimele kupongil olevale aadressile hiljemalt 18. oktoobri postitempliga. Tsekile kirjuta märgusõna “Mardiball.” Kui aga tähtaeg eelmüügi jaoks möödub, kuid sul pilet endiselt ostma, ära pead norgu lase ja koju jää – pileti saab osta ka ukselt, hinnaks $30.

The doors will open at 6:30, with the ceremonial cutting of the pig at 7:30 and around 9 the dance floor will open. In the spirit of Mardiball and Halloween, everyone is encouraged to wear a costume, but not having one is no reason to miss the party. There will be prizes for creative, memorable and/or eye-catching costumes so be innovative, and remember to bring a couple of dollars to be able to participate in this years exciting lottery.

Tickets to the ball are $25 for members and $30 for non-member adults, children 11-15 are $10 and children under 11 years of age are free. (Members are those who have paid dues for 2003; there will be the opportunity to pay dues at the door) To help the society in better planning for the event please order tickets in advance by mailing the reply slip included on this newsletter along with a check made out to “The Boston Estonian Society” postmarked no later than October 18, 2003. For those who wait to pay at the door, the price is $30 per adult.

Balti Kontsertseeria
2. november 
Järgmine kontsert toimub 2. novembril 2003. a. kell 3 pealelõunal The First and Second Church’is Bostonis, esineb leedu pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute.

Järgmine eesti kontsert toimub 8. veebruaril 2004. a., esinejaks Hanna-Liina Võsa, keda saadab klaveril Hando Nahkur. Hanna-Liina lauluhäälega sai siinne rahvas viimati tutvust teha eelmisel aastal, kui ta laulis üleameerikalikul “Grease” tuuril Sandy osa.

Eesti Filharmoonia Kammerkoori kontsert

Juhatab Paul Hillier. Kontert toimub Spaulding Auditoriumis. Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire. Paul Hiller tudvustas esimesena Arvo Pärdi muusikat läände.

Baltic Concert Series
2 November
The next concert will be on the 2nd of November 2003 at 3 o’clock at The First and Second Church in Boston. The performer will be the Lithuanian pianist Ieva Jokubavicute.

The last concert in the series will be a performance by the Estonian Hanna-Liina Võsa accompanied by Hando Nahkur on the piano on the 8th of February 2004. Haana-Liina’s voice was most recently heard last year when she performed the roll of Sandy in the touring cast of ‘Grease’.

20 December 
This year’s BES Christmas Service will be held on the 20th of December 2003 at 3 pm at the Church in Waltham. As per tradition we will gather after the service for a social hour and a visit from Santa Claus.

The Treasurer's Request to the Members
Currently the Boston Estonian Society has more than 200 members. Only a small number of them receive the newsletter via email, the rest prefer regular mail which can be quite time consuming as well as expensive for the Society. We would be very appreciative if all of you who have e-mail addresses (and would be willing to receive the newsletter via e-mail but have not notified us), please let Karina Branzetti know at toimetus@bostoneesti.org.

Also, we would ask all members who have not, as of yet, paid their 2003 membership fees to do so. The annual membership for an individual is $15, for a family $25; membership fee for retirees and honorary members is voluntary.
